ABOUT US

    

The African Union of Northern Nevada (AUNN), formed on May 16, 2001, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. AUNN is a non-political and non-governmental organization of Africans and "friends of Africa", that seeks to preserve and disseminate our rich historical and socio-cultural heritage.

    

AUNN is an umbrella organization that brings together Africans from all parts of Africa and the World. Most of our members are professional business men and women living and working in Northern Nevada. We also have student members and encourage our children to join this great organization. Enrollment is open to all Africans living in Northern Nevada.

    

AUNN is the only known Northern Nevada organization formed by Africans from different African countries. We are in essence a microcosm of the entire continent of Africa. All Africans and relatives of Africans in Northern Nevada are members of our organization. However, to be a registered member, you must register with the Union.

    

Mission:

    

       Our mission includes but is not limited to those reasonably necessary to accomplish these charitable and other purposes:

    

       To foster greater cooperation between us and our Northern Nevada neighbors.

    

       To provide assistance to families in need within the Northern Nevada areas by working with other charitable organizations.

    

       To provide scholarship funds to underprivileged children within our Northern Nevada community.

    

       To provide a forum for the sharing of knowledge and experiences while looking for ways to solve some of Africa's problems.

    

       To promote educational awareness on the illnesses plaguing the continent of African such as malaria and water borne diseases through outreach with other African Organizations.

    

       To form alliances and work with African religious and community organizations in Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroun, Senegal, Congo, Liberia, Mauritania and other member countries.
